Carbon dioxide (R744) as a refrigerant is becoming more widely used in the industry’s endeavor to replace systems which use large quantities of HFC refrigerant.
t is a natural substance, is non flammable and non toxic and has a very high cooling capacity. However, it presents significant challenges to system designers and site engineers due to its high pressures, low critical temperature, high triple point and high coefficient of expansion.
R744 is already being used widely in Scandinavia, where considerable expertise has built up on its safe use. We are working with the Danish Technical Institute to bring this expertise to the UK. |

We can:
Provide advice on the design of R744 systems, both sub and trans critical;
Help source components;
Work with you and component suppliers to develop systems and equipment which are as simple, practical and efficient as possible;
Facilitate the testing of systems and equipment;
Advise on equipping site engineers;
Train design, installation and service engineers. |
